The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands

January 14 - 21, 2026 | Maximum Group Size: 15 Participants | Availability: Open

From volcanic peaks and subtropical valleys to colonial cities and coastal promenades, this winter escape offers a vibrant and unexpected side of Spain. Located off the northwest coast of Africa, the Canary Islands blend dramatic landscapes with a relaxed pace, historic towns, and rich cultural heritage.

We begin on Gran Canaria, an island of microclimates and bold contrasts. Our base for three nights is the lively capital of Las Palmas, where leafy promenades, bustling markets, and historic districts echo centuries of seafaring history. Stroll through Ciudad Jardín and the colorful old quarter of Vegueta, then venture inland to mountain villages like Tejeda and Teror, and end the day with fresh seafood and volcanic swims at Puerto de las Nieves. A visit to a coffee finca in the Agaete Valley offers a taste of local agriculture and warm Canarian hospitality.

Crossing by air to Tenerife, we settle into the historic town of La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for the final three nights. This northern region offers a cooler, greener setting and serves as a perfect launch point for exploring the island. Visit the island capital, Santa Cruz, with its stunning modernist architecture and lively plazas. Then journey into Teide National Park, a surreal, high-altitude landscape crowned by Mt. Teide, Spain’s highest peak. Along the way, we explore the cobbled streets of Garachico, admire the ancient dragon tree of Icod de los Vinos, and soak in the dramatic beauty of the Masca gorge.

Escape winter and join us for a uniquely Spanish journey—rich in history, scenery, and island charm.
